Bollinger is known as a Champagne Masion that has been run by the family that founded the company since 1829. “James Bond” is an indispensable character in the Bollinger story. James Bond is a fictional British Secret Intelligence Service agent created in 1953 by author Ian Fleming, who goes by the code name “007” in the film. Described as “the icon of the British gentleman,” he is the object of admiration for men around the world.

02.

Bollinger’s high quality is evidenced by British Royal Warrant, which was granted by Queen Victoria in 1884. And Bollinger continues to supply the British Royal Family more than 130 years later. Incidentally, Bollinger is said to be the oldest existing Royal Warrant Champagne in England.

03.

One of the most famous people who defended Bollinger during the turmoil of World War II was Madame Elizabeth Lily Bollinger, wife of Jacques Bollinger, the third generation head of the family. She left us with these words,

“I drink champagne when I am happy and when I am sad. I drink when I am alone, and of course I drink when I am with friends. I also sip a little when I am hungry. Other than that, I don’t touch Champagne. Except when I am thirsty.”

Her thoughts and feelings are still passed on to the family and staff who support Bollinger, to all of us.

Oak is an essential keyword when discussing Bollinger’s craftsmanship. The house’s base wines are barrel fermented and barrel aged, and all prestige cuvées are made from base wines that have been fermented in wooden barrels. Incidentally, there is a forest owned by the Bollinger family in Cuis, where the Chardonnay vineyard is located, and they still make about 20 barrels a year from trees that were cut down in this forest. A dedicated barrel maker (the last dedicated barrel maker in the Champagne region) is engaged.

The cuvée we are offering in plans that include Champagne is the “La Grand Année 2014”. La Grand Année is made only in the best years, and is a blend of Grand Cru Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and is released after nine long years of aging, making it Bollinger’s top cuvée. Why is Bollinger so loved by people all over the world? Why don’t you try “La Grand Année” to find out why?
