Taittinger is a family-owned house that has been owned by the Taittinger family since its establishment. While many of the major Champagne Maisons have been acquired by giant corporations one after another, the fact that Taittinger continues to be owned by the same family is truly a “miracle”.

Located at the bottom of the hill of Saint Nicaise in Reims with a history of more than 1800 years, Clayères is 18 meters underground. It is here that Taittinger currently ages its top cuvée, “Comtes de Champagne,” among others.
(The site is on UNESCO’s World Heritage List as “Champagne Hills, Houses and Caves”).

Right: Marquetry Castle, whose construction began in the heart of Champagne during the Age of Enlightenment.

Incidentally, Taittinger’s top cuvée, the Comtes de Champagne, is named after this “Count of Champagne. Taittinger remains faithful to its time-honored mission, including these historical buildings.

In “Champagne par Taittinger”, published in 1996, the then head of the company, Claude Taittinger, said, “Our goal is to create a unique Champagne in the world”. For Taittinger, blending is truly an artistic process. The secret behind Taittinger’s unique Champagne is an unwavering spirit of craftsmanship.

The cuvée we are offering in plans that include Champagne is the “Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2007”. It is known as the jewel of Taittinger, meaning “Count of Champagne,” and is a masterpiece of the Maison, made only from Chardonnay from good vintages that have reached exceptional quality. We invite you to experience the history that Taittinger has spun at the hotel.
