01.

Bollinger is known as a house that has been run by the family that founded the company since 1829. James Bond” is an indispensable character in the Bollinger story. James Bond is a fictional British Secret Intelligence Service agent created in 1953 by author Ian Fleming, who goes by the code name “007” in the film. Described as “the man among men” and “the icon of the British gentleman,” he is the object of admiration for men around the world.

02.

Bollinger’s high quality is evidenced by its Royal Warrant, which was granted by Queen Victoria in 1884, and Bollinger continues to supply the British Royal Family more than 130 years later. Incidentally, Bollinger is said to be the oldest existing Royal Warrant Champagne in England.

03.

One person who is known to have defended Bollinger during the upheavals of World War II is Madame Elizabeth Lily Bollinger, the wife of the third head of the family, Jacques Bollinger. She left behind these words: “I am happy when I am happy and sad when I am sad. I drink champagne when I am happy and when I am sad. I drink when I am alone, and of course I drink when I am with friends. I also sip a little when I am hungry. Other than that, I don’t touch Champagne. Except when I am thirsty. Her passion is still passed on to the family and staff who support Bollinger, and to all of us.

04.

Oak” is an indispensable keyword when discussing Bollinger’s craftsmanship. The house’s base wines are barrel fermented and barrel aged, and all prestige cuvées are made from base wines that have undergone wooden barrel fermentation. Incidentally, there is a forest owned by the Bollinger family in Cuit, where the Chardonnay vineyard is located, and they still make about 20 barrels a year from trees felled in this forest. A dedicated barrel maker (the last dedicated barrel maker in the Champagne region) is engaged.

The cuvée for the Champagne Included Plan is La Grand Danée 2014. La Grand Danée is only made in the best years, and is a blend of Grand Cru Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and is released after nine years of extended aging. Why is Bollinger so loved by people all over the world? Why not try “La Grand Danée” and find out why?
