A chic gentleman creates

Charles Edosic, an adventurous gentleman and entrepreneur, founded his eponymous Champagne House in 1851 at the age of just 29 to realize his ideal Champagne House. It is one of the few prestige brands to hold the title of “Les Grands Marques” (The Great Brand), and was one of the first producers to bring Champagne to the United States.

At Charles Edosic, time spent aging is considered the “fourth variety. It is in this area, where a superior quality cuvée is transformed by aging into a great taste, that Charles-Edosick’s founder, Charles-Camille Edosick, focused most of his efforts. The estate was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015 in recognition of its historical and cultural value.

The 2000-year-old Crayères cellar is located 30 meters underground and is kept at a year-round temperature of 10°C (50°F) and humidity of 90%.

One of the characteristics of the company is that it contracts with the best producers in the Champagne region to source convincing wines from a wide range of sources. This is done by assembling a large number of crus to produce an artistic and consistent Champagne that is marketed year after year.

In 1858, the jazz song “Champagne Charlie” by George Raybourn was published and became popular, and in 1989, Hugh Grant, then 29 years old (the same age Charles Camille Edosick was when he founded the company), played the role in the film “Champagne Charlie” directed by Alan Eastman. The cuvée for the Champagne Included Plan is Blanc des Millenaires 2007. Blanc des Millenaire, Charles Edosic’s top Champagne, was first released in 1983, followed by 1985, 1990, 1995, 2004, 2006, and now 2007, and has been produced in only seven vintages. The name “Millenaire,” which means “thousand years” in French, comes from the long aging process in the 2000-year-old limestone cellars of Clayères.
